Il libro dei gatti tuttofare
“Questo libro sui gatti,” scrive Tadini, “e un libro sui nomi.” Non a caso nella prima poesia Eliot stesso sostiene che ogni gatto deve avere tre nomi: un nome sensato, “a scopo familiare”, un nome più dignitoso che gli permetta di “mettere in mostra i baffi” e “mantenere la coda perpendicolare”, e infine “il Nome”, che solo il gatto può conoscere. Se vediamo un gatto in profonda meditazione non possiamo avere dubbi: sta contemplando il suo “ineffabile effabile effineffabile profondo inscrutabile ed unico Nome”. Così tra Pelastinco Rotella de’ Binario e Brunero, gatto del mistero, tra un Gattatràc e un Gattafascio, vedremo sfilare gatti dai caratteri più disparati: gatti singolari, bizzarri, gatti energici, gatti indaffaratissimi, ma nessuno arriva all’“evidenza luminosa di quel primo gatto accoccolato sulla soglia del libro” a contemplare il proprio Nome.
